IAEA Safety Standard: Preparedness and Response for a Nuclear or Radiological Emergency, GSR Part 7
This training course helps Member States implement the IAEA Safety Standard Preparedness and Response for a Nuclear or Radiological Emergency (GSR Part 7) in their national emergency preparedness and response frameworks. It also reviews changes made to the document in November 2015.
The course targets professionals responsible for preparing for and responding to a nuclear or radiological emergency at the national, regional, local or facility levels.
The five-day programme includes discussions on potential implementation challenges and areas that could require further guidance and support. The course focusses on: dosimetric criteria (generic criteria and reference levels); emergency planning zones and distances; hazard assessment and categories; protection of emergency workers; protection strategies; and the termination of a nuclear or radiological emergency.
Member States desiring training in this area should send an official request to the IAEA Incident and Emergency Centre.
