IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano today delivered a statement to a special meeting of the Agency's Board of Governors. The meeting focussed on a request for the IAEA to extend its monitoring and verification activities in Iran until June 2015 under the E3 + 3 Joint Plan of Action and the implications for funding. In his opening address, Director General Amano said that the Agency remains committed to working with Iran to restore international confidence in the peaceful nature of its nuclear programme. The Board of Governors is one of the IAEA's main policymaking bodies.
