Considerations in Emergency Preparedness and Response for a State Embarking on a Nuclear Power Programme

This training course assists countries embarking on or expanding an existing nuclear power programme in establishing capabilities for nuclear and radiological emergency preparedness and response (EPR).

The course targets professionals working on nuclear power programmes and EPR at a national level.

The five-day programme presents IAEA safety standards in EPR and the concepts in the IAEA publication Considerations in Emergency Preparedness and Response for a State Embarking on a Nuclear Power Programme (EPR-EMBARKING 2012). It covers international requirements for EPR, and highlights how to establish arrangements and capabilities for EPR. It also focuses on international assistance for a radiation emergency and emergency preparedness review.

Member States desiring training in this area should send an official request to the IAEA Incident and Emergency Centre.
